First Letter of Each Word

This is a "crack the code" type activity for the kids to figure out. This activity can be used for any song.

Prepare strips of paper with the first letter of each word. Each song phrase will be a new strip of paper.

Put the paper strips in random order on the board.

Ask "What do you see? What do you notice?"  Receive the answers.

"What does this have to do with the song?"  Some kids might think the word strips represent scrambled words.

Sing the song.

"What do these paper strips have to do with the song?"

After someone figures out the system, ask for volunteers to put the strips of paper in order while singing the song. Tap on the children to come up to the board and pick the next strip to order.

Repeat singing the song until all of the strips are in order.
