We'll Bring the World His Truth - Rebus

A "rebus" is a puzzle in which words are represented by combinations of pictures and individual letters.

For this activity, I created a variety of rebuses that represent different words in the song. Below are images of the board setup for the 1st verse and chorus. The rebus pictures are displayed at the bottom of the board in random order. The remaining words and pictures are already in the correct positions on the board.

Ask the children, "What do you see? What do you notice?"

Some of the answers might include words, pictures, math, etc.

Explain that some of the pictures use a combinations of images and letters to make up a different word.

"Listen to the song and see if you can figure out what some of the pictures might represent."

Sing the song. "What do you see? What do you notice?"

Ask for volunteers to help put the pictures on the board in the correct positions while you repeat the song until all of the pictures have been decoded and arranged in the correct order. Some of the words might be easier if you sound it out loud, and some of them are a bit creative, so use your imagination :)
