Mother, Tell Me the Story - Melody Map

Put the melody map charts on the board in random order. 

Ask, "What do you see? What do you notice? What do these pictures have to do with the song?"

Receive the answers.

Sing the song.

"What does this have to do with the song?"

"What do the heights of the bars represent?"

"What do the colors and widths represent?'

Sing the song again if needed and give clues until they figure it out:

• height = how high or low the notes are 

• colors and width = how long or short the notes are

Ask the children to help put the charts in the correct order. Sing again.

Ask the children to sing only the words that are blue, orange, and pink. 

Ask the children to sing all of the words EXCEPT for blue, orange, and pink.
